"The fact that there's a 'Highway to Hell' and only a 'Stairway to Heaven' says a lot about anticipated traffic numbers." I hope that is not true! I do not want anyone to go to hell. Hell is a real place where Satan and every person who does not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior will spend eternity. Today I am not sugar coating - this is the harsh reality.
Scripture tells us that hell is a lake of fire. It is a place of everlasting punishment. It is a place of darkness and sorrows. Hell is a place of wailing, a furnace of fire. Hell is a place of torments. You are the only one who chooses your destiny. You are one or the other - a follower of Satan or a follower of Jesus Christ. Satan is the only person who wants you in hell. He will tell you not to make a decision for Christ - you have plenty of time. The very next second could be too late. Matthew 24: 36, "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
Unless you acknowledge Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, that is where you are going. Matthew 25: 46, "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life." Jesus talked more about hell than anyone else in the Bible. But, like my pastor said, He always brought it back around to the Good News. He always invites us to a new life. Jesus' mercy, love and grace was displayed on a criminal's cross.
We are also to share the Good News! 2 Timothy 4:2-4, "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction." This is what we are called to do and we will be held accountable. Ezekiel 33:8, "When I say to the wicked, ‘You wicked person, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood."
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, pray this prayer of Salvation. Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died on the cross to forgive me of my sin and was raised to life again. I am sorry and I turn away from my sin. Come live in my heart. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.
