When I was growing up I always got my necklaces tangled. Probably because I just threw them in my jewelry box. When I decided I was ready to wear one I would take my Dad a ball of tangled gold chains! The knots were so tiny and he would have to use a pin to separate the chains. I did this over and over again and he untangled it over and over again!
I'm so glad Jesus never says, "This is the last time I'll untangle this mess you made!" I have made more tangled messes than I can count and He has untangled them. Even when I thought there was no way out - He made one. 1 Corinthian 10: 13, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
Hebrews 12: 1-2, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." We are to throw off everything that hinders our walk with God. To name a few hinders of our faith walk are worry, fear, selfishness, anger, insecurity, procrastination, pride, envy and the list goes on!
We can ask God to untangle our mess and He will help us! It may not be easy to throw off these things but it is possible with God. Matthew 19: 26, "Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'” We just have to start with a simple prayer of repentance and ask for help. With confidence we can believe that God will help us as we try to do better - not perfect, but consistently in dealing with our life. God can and will untangle our messes!
Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever.
