Today is my 30th wedding anniversary! Mike and I have had a wonderful life with great memories. He is my best friend. Has it all been roses? You already know the answer. No marriage is perfect because there are no perfect people. We have had hard times, sad times, unsure times because that is life.
When we decided to put God first in our lives, we put God at the top of our marriage. We have a marriage of three: God, Mike and Jill. This is how we are able to make our marriage stronger during hard times. We have the common goal of putting God first in our lives. The good news for married couples who may have lost their love is that it can be regained. Surrender your lives to Christ and recommit to each other. Jesus Christ is the BEST marriage counselor!
Even with Christ in the center of your marriage, marriage can be hard. "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." — 1 Corinthians 13:7. Marriage is a sacred covenant. It is a union by God to make each partner stronger and able to carry out His plan for our lives.
“But at the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh." Mark 10: 6-8 Being one does not mean we will be the same but it does mean we will work toward the same goals. We will be partners who have to communicate, cooperate, work with each other's strengths and weaknesses. It requires commitment.
I named this blog Happy perseverance because perseverance means to continue doing something - perhaps even in the face of difficulty or opposition. It is being steadfast in a purpose. It means to keep on keeping on!
"Expectations"
What ever happened to white picket fences,
Rose gardens, prince charming, happily ever after?
Fences must be painted and repaired
Gardens must be hoed and nurtured.
Prince charming gets tired and grumpy, too.
Happily ever after?
The realities of life can be harsh.
But keeping "in tune" with God's plan for your life - abiding in Him-
can get you through those harsh realities of life - and beyond...
All the way to happily ever after -
Both in this life...
And the One to come!" From "Just a Housewife"

Happy Belated Anniversary Jill and Mike! Love reading your posts :)
Happy anniversary! This was great today as we all need that gentle reminder in our marriages , that it truly is a marriage of three.
