As I write my heart is heavy. I am writing to remind myself that God is in charge and I do not have to fear tomorrow. I say out loud, all the time, "I trust you, God!" I know He is in charge and I know we can get through anything. But I let fear slip in. Sunday at church we sang "Do It Again" by Elevation which I have heard many times but this time it really spoke to me. The words that spoke to me were, "Waiting for change to come Knowing the battle's won For You have never failed me yet Your promise still stands Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness I'm still in Your hands This is my confidence, You've never failed me yet".
Psalm 112: 7, "They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord." When I got out of worship I was comforted. I kept thinking, "of course He can change things! He has done it before and He can do it again! When I think of the things He has done, in just my life, I am blown away. He has never failed me! The same goes for my family, you, your family, our friends, our coworkers, etc. There is a quote I like, "we have no fear for the future except we forget how God has led us in the past." We just have to be reminded of how He has already taken care of us!
Philippians 4: 6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." I am so thankful for the Scriptures and for those who write Christian songs that speak to me.
God's got this. No one else. We are not in charge. Isaiah 41: 10, " So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." And He will stay with us through whatever we face. Hebrews 13: 5, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." He will never leave us! When we take our fears to God, we are delivered! Psalm 34: 4, " I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
On the evening that I was diagnosed, my daughter, Sarah, taped this verse on my mirror. When we moved it came with me and I look at it every morning. Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." When we are unsure about the future we can be sure that God is already there. He is already in our tomorrow. We can know He has a plan even when we do not understand. He just wants us to trust Him.
If you have a burden (or two or three or more) give it to God. 1 Peter 5: 7, "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." We are His children and He wants only what is best for us. Jeremiah 29: 11, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Great is His faithfulness!!
