You know I love the beach. I love shells and sand! I also love to see how different the sand is at different beaches. Our beach has white sand. Clearwater, Florida has sand that looks like powdered sugar. Port Elizabeth, South Africa has colorful sand that feels like fine gravel. Puerto Rico has black sand. The Bahamas has pink sand! I love to have my feet in the sand and I always stop and think about how many grains are just under my feet!
"God speaks in Genesis 15:5 of His blessings being like the grains of sand, too numerous to count. 'Look up at the heavens and count the stars - if indeed you can count them.' To me, if you must be convinced, pick up one teaspoon of sand from one beach and count the grains.
Recently I stumbled across someone challenging the Bible's statement that there are more stars in the sky than grains of sand. The mathematicians at the University of Hawaii tried to answer how many grains of sand there are on the world's beaches. So, if you need to know: they came up with 7,005,000,000,000,000,000 or seven quintillion five quadrillion grains of sand. Psalm 139: 17-18 tells us 'How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand!' Wow! He thinks a lot about you and I!
Next, the mathematician decided to try to find out the number of stars. Well, this has to be based on the number of stars the Hubble telescope is capable of detecting in our galaxy. So we know already, that we cannot count them all. However, the mathematicians came up with this: there are at least 100 stars in the universe for every grains of sand. I say, this is a LOT! Think of that the next time you are at the beach or looking at the stars!
Psalm 147:4 says, 'He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.' Wow! God knows all the stars by name and we are more important than the stars in the sky. Creation makes scripture come to life and I definitely think it is a miracle.
Genesis 1: 31, 'God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.' Psalm 136:4, '...to him who alone does great wonders.' Deuteronomy 10: 21, 'He is your praise; he is your God who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.'"
Remember the great wonders He has done!"
