Going Home

Tomorrow I will be going home and while I am sad to say goodbye to the fun and memories we are making I always love to go home! Home is my safe place where I am comfortable and get to sleep in my own bed. Sometimes we yearn to be home. Sometimes our homecomings include tears of joy. When I have been away from my family for an extended period I cry tears of joy when I see them. That is how Mom and I will be when we are reunited.

As much as I love my home I know that this world will never satisfy me completely. No matter what we gain or have, God has put eternity in our heart. Ecclesiastes 3: 11, "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end." The Bible tells us that God's dwelling place, Heaven, is our home and will exceed anything we have ever felt. This home on earth is temporary. 2 Corinthians 5:6–8, "Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.  For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."

God has put a longing in us for Heaven that cannot be satisfied by anything other than being with Jesus. While we are here, God wants us to make the best of where we are and do whatever He gives us to do. Paul had a longing for home but knew God had reasons for him to stay. Philippians 1: 23-24, " I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body." It is good to be home but even better to go to our Heavenly home!
