A friend at church asked me to reach out to her friend who was going through cancer. I did and we shared a lot with each other. My new friend began visiting my church and now we get to see each other when she can make it to church. We are prayer partners and we have been to the Altar together. When she couldn’t, I went to the Altar and was anointed with oil as her “stand in”. When you share this sacred space, there is a bond. We have a real friendship!
I am so grateful to God that, if we have to go through a tough time, He wastes nothing. He uses it all! Romans 8: 28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” He brings good from those times. We are called to encourage others. We have all been through something that could help someone else. We are called to encourage others. 1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
Another added blessing to encouraging others is the friendship you develop. Sometimes because you have shared intimately, you form deep friendships. God, truly, wastes nothing. If we have to go through these tough times, isn’t it wonderful that He sends us friends to go on the journey with us. Then, when we are able, we give back and we are blessed with more friendships. I have made some precious friendships that started out as prayer partners. God always blesses us beyond measure! Ephesians 3: 20, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…” Ask God to bring you the people you need to encourage and you will be blessed!
