My heart was heavy as I got ready for church so I was talking to God to prepare my heart for worship. I asked Him if I had misinterpreted something He had told me and if I had to please take it away from me. If I was correct in hearing Him then please help me with my unbelief while trusting His perfect ways and His perfect timing. I asked Him to please speak to me. 1 Samuel 3: 9, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
The first song the band led us in was, “Not Afraid” by Jesus Culture. Imagine how overwhelmed I was when I sang the words, “You keep the promises you make There isn't one that is delayed So I will not lose heart, here, I will lift my arms And start to sing into the night My praise will call the sun to rise Declare the battle won, declare that it is done.” He spoke to me during the first song!
In the sermon we were reminded that God is still speaking to us just as He spoke to Jeremiah. Sometimes we avoid the Bible because it is “a mirror to our soul”. Scripture convicts us of sin and leads us to redemption and forgiveness. James 1: 23, “For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.” NLT When we stay in God’s Word we know the truth! If I want to trust God, I have to stay in His Word - The Truth!
I loved the story the visiting Pastor Andy Lambert told us about a prisoner of war he met. the man was kept in a small cage, for a small dog, for quite a while. He said out of all the tortures the one that did not work was when they read him letters from his family. They told him that his family did not love him and that his wife wanted a divorce. The gentleman said it did not hurt because he knew his family loved him - because he knew the truth! We need to know the Truth!
