Funemployed

With being funemployed I decided I wanted to do some prioritizing including relationships. Having 25 hours a week free, I chose to use it to spend time with God, be in creation and nourish friendships. I decided to make time for those I do not see often but are special to me. Each week I tried to spend time with a friend, including new friends and made plans with those out of town. It has been so rewarding. Any relationship is only as good as we put into it. If you do not make time for the other person, life gets in the way and the relationship dissolves. What we treasure, we make time for!
A friend used to say, we all have the same 24 hours in a day as Mother Theresa. When we do not make time for friends we are saying this is not a priority to me. The same is true with God. If we treasure our relationship with Him, we must make Him a priority. Matthew 6: 21, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Our treasures may be family, our job, tv, sports, social media, etc. Whatever it is we make time for it. It is not a question of if we have time or when we have time - we make time by putting that priority first!
God needs to be our top priority. Proverbs 3: 6, "...in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." When we don't go to God for guidance and wisdom in our decisions, we become worried, resentful and bitter. These feelings can turn to sickness, bad attitudes and bad decisions. We don't have to live like this. Jesus gives us life - abundantly. John 10: 10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
"'I don't have to go to church to be a Christian,' and they are right. You also don't have to go home to be married - but stay away long enough, and your relationship will be affected."
Well said!
