Exercising Gratitude

Years ago, I had been going through a hard time and my doctor offered me something to "take the edge off". I told her I thought I was good between my exercise and my faith. She told me that 40 minutes of exercise was equal to so many milligrams of Prozac. Wow! Add time with God in that mix and you really have the makings for a great day! (I am not saying anything against anyone who needs medication.)

I have always enjoyed walking outside, in the morning and I appreciate the quiet time. It reminds me that today is a new day. Luke 1: 78, " A new day will dawn on us from above because our God is loving and merciful." No matter what we are dealing with, today is a new day. Psalm 30: 5, "Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning." Early morning walks are a great time with God. These walks are for praising God, not for asking.

I hear the birds singing. I have learned crows caw in patterns. I started counting the caws. It was four caws and then silence, four caws and silence, and continued. After a long while it went to six caws and then silence. I was so intrigued that I actually googled it and learned this is their companion calls. During the silence the crow is listening for a response. I am reminded of how God takes care of the birds and He loves me so much more! Matthew 6: 24-34, "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?" How wonderfully made we are. Psalm 139: 14, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made..."
