Don't Let Me Get In The Way, God!

"A southern girl knows she can open a door for herself, but prefers for the gentleman to do it because it shows a sense of respect. We pick our battles and fight with the heart of a pitt bull while still maintaining grace and elegance. We are soft-spoken, mild-mannered southern belles, who could direct an army, loves her Momma, and will always be Daddy's little girl." Unknown

I love this and it always makes me tear up. I wll always be my Dad's little girl and I will always be protective of my Momma! I am also protective of my girls, my husband, my friends, children, old people, animals and my God! I find it very hurtful to hear people use the Lord's name in vain and I am very hurt by people who make fun of Christians and God. Now, I do know that God does not need me to fight His battles. Often times I find myself thinking I need to fight His battles! I think there are other ways, He would rather me show people about Him!

Nothing is a surprise to God. Just because I am surprised does not mean He is! We have been told that there will be false prophets. Matthew 7: 15, "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." We have also been told that the world will not accept Jesus. John 14: 17-19, "The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live." We are also told that people without the Spirit do not accept things of the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2: 14, "The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit."

None of this comes as a surprise to God. Remember, He knows everything. He does not need us to fight His battle, He needs us to show the love of Jesus. I find myself wanting to help God but that turns into me trying to control things without seeking God. 2 Timothy 1: 7, "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline." When we go to God, the Spirit will show us how to share His Word with others. Most importantly, a godly life should serve as a witness for the message we proclaim.

We cannot open or change someone's heart but God can, by His Spirit. God used the Apostle Paul even though he was not eloquent. He depended on the Holy Spirit to guide him. 1 Corinthians 2:1-, "And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power." I have always reminded myself of Moses, wanting Him to get someone else. But God helped Moses lead the Israelites to the Promised Land.

God did not call Paul, Moses, you or me because we are qualified. He qualifies the called. We are called to share what Jesus Christ has done for us. Matthew 28: 19, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," Notice it does not say, "you may go..." No, it commands us, "Therefore go..."

One of the best ways we can share our faith is by living a godly life. Especially in times like this, when it is hard to live the godly life and take the high road. We do not want unbelievers to think we are hypocritical because we say one thing and do another. We are all hypocrites! That is why a church is called a hospital for sinners. I am a child of God! I cannot brag about my love for God because I fail Him hourly but I can brag about His love for me because He never fails me!
