Confident In Christ

Writer: Jill Jarrell NewsomeJill Jarrell Newsome

"On an old man's shirt was written, "I am not 80 year old; I am sweet 16 with 64 years of experience.'" I love confident people, not overconfident. Sometimes I think someone is attractive because of their confidence in Christ. Who and Whose they are.

Elijah prayed for no rain for three years. He prayed for it to rain and it rained. James 5: 17-18, "Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. " I get so caught up in his confidence that I forget that it says, first, that Elijah was a human like us!

When we pray, power is made available. James 5: 16, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." We do have to be right with God and we do this by confessing our sin. We should not talk bad about ourselves. We hear that enough through Satan. When we are right with God we can be bold. When we know who we are in Christ we can be more confident. Righteousness is a weapon. 2 Corinthians 6: 7, "We faithfully preach the truth. God’s power is working in us. We use the weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense." Have confidence in Christ!

"We plan big things for tomorrow in spite of zero knowledge of the future. That is confidence."
