Cleaning For Christ

Sometimes I think about if Jesus physically came to my house to visit. Would I be embarrassed by what He would see? I can tell you one thing real quick. I would turn the television off. I would be ashamed of some of my trash tv! Even some commercials! I think of how much television has changed in the last five years and it is scary. Anything is ok now. It seems everything has now been snuck into music, television shows, commercials and movies. Little by little we have gotten used to or desensitized to these things.


My kids are grown but I still think about being a good role model for them and my niece and nephew. I do not want them to think it is ok to watch certain things that are disrespectful. I know I need to do a better job monitoring what I watch on tv. I am bringing that stuff into my home. No one makes me do that!


I remember my girls having CD's I did not approve of. They would laugh at me because if they left one in my car I would break it. I tried to explain to them that the songs disrespected races and females and used bad language. I would never let anyone come talk to my girls that way. They would not be allowed in my house. They teach the wrong kind of principles and values. I know "everyone listens to it" but I bet my girls won't let their children listen to that stuff!


I did not have to deal with the social media that kids have to deal with now. We have to monitor the websites that children have access to. We have to be selective and aware of books that are being recommended by school. As a Christian, we must prevent our minds and our youths minds from being polluted and poisoned by some of the freedom of expression.


Ephesians 3: 16-17, "I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love..." God wants to live in our hearts and make it His home. John 14: 23, "Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them."


Does Christ live in your heart? Do you need to do some cleaning for Christ? Don't know what to get rid of in your house? Don't know what to listen to on the radio? Don't know what to watch on tv? Just think, if Christ were to come into my home, would this material be ok?
