Can You Hear Me, God?

I think of my father and my girl's father. While both my dad and my husband tried to give us everything and gave in easier than my mom or I, they could be worn down with their girl's pleas. They did not always and immediately answer our requests in exactly the way we wanted. Our heavenly Father is good and has greater purposes than simply granting every wish. As my pastor says, when do we grow? When we are fat and happy or things are lean?
God answers our prayers but not in our timing or the way we want. He gives a yes, no or wait.
Someone just told me they do not feel like God hears any of their payers. If you feel this way, you are not alone. Many Christians feel that way! I am sure Job felt this way. David, a man after God’s own heart, prayed in Psalm 13: 1, “How long, O Lord?” Habakkuk, the prophet, cried in 1: 2, “O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear?" God knows our frustration and gives us words to pray and examples to follow.
Prayer without faith isn’t prayer; it’s talking to ourselves. You are asking God to do something that you believe is impossible. That is not faith. God can do the impossible. Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Mark 10:27, “With men it is impossible, but not with God.” Luke 1:37, “With God nothing will be impossible.” Luke 18:27, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
When we pray and merely recite words, we lack faith. When we do not believe He can answer our prayers, we lack faith. Instead of praying this way we must look to God and trust His promises. Romans 10: 17, "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." Trust God with everything, even the impossible.
"The difficulty is not there to defeat you, but to promote you!"
