Borders & Boundaries

I have said this a lot, I love to get rid of clutter! When we sold our house I got rid of so much stuff. We only have what fits in a 2 bedroom apartment and a 10x10 storage. I had no idea how freeing this would be but I have learned that I can get rid of a lot more! Sometimes clutter comes in the form of how other people treat us or how we respond to them. The person does not have to be a friend but we have to do good.

I heard Joyce Meyer say that even picture frames have a border around them. Our houses have borders showing the kitchen, den and bedroom. If not, it would look like a confused mess. That is what happens to our mind when we do not have boundaries. 1 Corinthians 14: 33, "For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people." Only God can bring about change in another person's heart - we cannot control them. We can pray for them. We can watch our words. Proverbs 17: 27, "The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered."

We can use our words with restraint and stay even-tempered because we’re ultimately entrusting them to the Lord.

Even Jesus had boundaries. He withdrew from the crowds and took breaks. While He worked hard and was busy He always made time for what was His priority. He set boundaries so He could do His Father's will. We cannot do everything for everyone. Some things are beyond our control and it is ok to say no. Then we have to trust God. Where do you need to build boundaries?
