I heard that we should have worry Wednesdays and that is the only day we can worry. All week write down our annoyances and anxieties, knowing we can worry Wednesday. By the time Wednesday comes, our concerns are usually nothing and doesn't even matter anymore! Our thoughts, not our circumstances are the problem. When I turn things over to God and trust He takes the stress away. Philippians 4: 7, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Trusting God is the greatest stress reliever in the world!
How much energy do we waste worrying about something? Excessive thinking and negative thoughts drain our energy and cause resentfulness and bitterness. We can rest while we do God's work if we are trusting Him. Hebrews 4: 10, "for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." God sees the big picture so He knows what is best. Proverbs 3: 5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." The side effects of trusting God is love, joy, peace and righteousness.
We must renew our mind! Romans 12: 2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." What is worrying us now will not matter at all in a while. Psalm 37: 1-3, "Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture." We can keep doing good while having peace with our Father looking over us. Jesus gave us a wonderful gift and we should use it! John 14: 27, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
"We starve worry when we feast on worship."
