Be Still and Silent

This one verse has really spoken to me since revival. I shared that Pastor Barry had used it and it just keeps speaking to me! I tend to run through verses but today I was led to break it down and I am amazed at how powerful it is! "The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

"The LORD..." I love that "LORD" is in all caps which tells us He is the great King of Kings, Creator of the universe and He never changes! This is the title for God as complete Creator and ever present one. Genesis 2: 4, "This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens." Genesis 18: 1, "The Lord appeared to Abraham..." Psalm 23: 1, "This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens."

"...will fight for you," Sometimes God sends us out and empowers us to fight and sometimes He fights the battle for us. No problem is too big for God. He has promised to take care of us. Philippians 4: 19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." He has good plans for us. Jeremiah 29: 11, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

"you need only to be still." Psalm 46: 10, "He says, “Be still, and know that I am God..." Psalm 46: 1, "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." God already knows our struggles and He knows how we will overcome them. He does not need our help, He just needs us to KNOW that He is God. When we know that we can praise Him for what He is doing whether we see it or feel it.

When we trust God to fight our battles, we do not experience what often accompanies the conflict such as panic, fear and hopelessness. Romans 5: 3-4, "we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." We "put no confidence in the flesh." (Philippians 3:3) Our confidence should be in God, the God of all creation is the One Who is really in control!

Are you facing something difficult? God will fight for you! Just be still, silent and watch as He overcomes.
