Be More Thankful

I saw this quote the other day and I love it. "We don't need more to be thankful for, we just need to be more thankful!" I think our world would be a lot better off if we were, all, more thankful! The Israelites expressed their gratitude to God many times throughout the Old Testament. They were always thankful when the Lord delivered them. But when things were not going their way they complained and were not grateful. 1 Thessalonians 5: 18 "...give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." How quickly they forgot God’s goodness towards them. Like them, in the midst of life's busyness and pressures, we forget to be grateful. We are reminded in Scripture to be thankful. Colossians 3: 15 "...the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful."

Our biggest thing to be grateful for is that we are a child of God! We need to be grateful for the guilt of sin Jesus took from us! We do not have to fear death because we have eternal life! We are never alone because Jesus said He will never leave us or forsake us. And we have the Holy Spirit in us to guide us! If we just remember to be thankful for these things it will see us through all of our trials and tribulations! Colossians 3: 17 "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

We should just thank Him everyday that He is Good, He is merciful and His love is forever! 1 Chronicles 16: 34 "Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever." When we focus on our blessings, God can release the grip our struggles have over us. He strengthens us and gives us His peace that surpasses all understanding. He renews us and we are filled with joy!
