When in the mountains our family loves to take a two to three hour river float and some of us want to go a second time. While we are usually talking and laughing, it is still a spiritual experience for me. The beauty around me, God's creation, the cool crispness of the water, and being surrounded by my children is beyond special! I think of Psalm 27: 4, "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple." I get to gaze on His beauty and I am reminded how much He wants to spend all eternity with His children.
Most people pray for things for themselves whether finances, healing, restored relationship, guidance and many other things. Some people pray for other people whether loved ones, friends, unknown people or even enemies. We do this because Paul told us to make our request known to God. Philippians 4: 6-7, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
In Psalm 27, David, requested to be able to dwell in God's house everyday and to be able to gaze upon Him. There really is nothing better than being in God’s presence. When we are in His presence, we are in awe of His glory, majesty and love! Our worldly problems and issues become temporary. Everything is put in perspective. Ask God to be in His Presence today and watch how your perspective changes!
