Mom was having a hard time when she first moved to where she lives now. I felt like a parent taking my child to kindergarten on the first day - hoping she had someone to sit with at lunch, recess, etc. I may have had a harder time than Mom and, again, I was not in control. I asked God to pour His favor on Mom with the staff and residents. After that, every day, I thanked God for pouring His favor on her and waited with great expectations.
Psalm 106:4, “Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people.” God invites us to ask Him for favor. Nehemiah, in the Bible, boldly asked God for favor. He was the cup-bearer to King Artaxerxes and he begged God for favor from the king. Broken hearted over the situation back in Jerusalem, Nehemiah needed permission from the king to do the very thing God had called Him to do – rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
I thought of Psalm 91: 14-16, "'Because he loves me,' says the Lord, 'I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.'” God is so good to us and I began praising Him for what He had done, is doing and will do. Immediately, things turned around and new friends were made. Staff hug her, tell her they love her, pick with her, show her respect and call her a friend! Thank You, Jesus, for always hearing our prayers!
