Are You Listening?

In the last five years, only one other time have I not felt like writing but in the last six weeks I had used my time to rest, reflect, heal and discern. I have spent a lot of time walking, riding my bike and sitting outside in His creation, in His presence and it has been amazing. When we are available it is amazing what God can do! I have never heard Him so often or so clear!
I asked for signs and got them. One morning I prayed for signs of affirmation and then read my devotional. Two sentences used the exact words I had said to Mike! I got to work and was given a Serenity card and the line, "the courage to change the things I can", jumped out. The final was a devotion by Pastor Barry who began by pointing to me and saying, "I thought of you"! A week later I was awaken at 4:30 a.m. with a very clear mind. I heard a sermon snippet from our Thanksgiving service in which the pastor said he was not using what he prepared but what God told him to speak on. (I remember asking God, during the sermon, "are you talking to me?") After those words, I had a vision of a gift wrapped in white paper with a beautiful, big gold bow. God said, "this is a gift filled with blessings." This gave me such peace, I began to cry tears of joy. Psalm 29: 11, "...The Lord blesses his people with peace."
I have never heard God, audibly. I hear a whisper in my heart and I know, without a doubt, that it is Him. And it always lines up with His Word. John 1: 1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." In 1 Kings 19, Elijah stood on a mountain and heard God speak. God’s voice came to him as a whisper. If we don't listen, we may miss it. We can't do all the talking! If it helps, say out loud, "I am listening God." He will always have His followers best interest. Romans 8: 28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
