Are You In Awe of God

Psalm 33: 8 says, "Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him! Proverbs 1:7, says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."

For a long time I did not like the word "fear" when talking about God. I think of Him as love and not to be afraid of Him. I did understand that he could do anything but I knew He was not out to hurt me.

A minister explained that to "fear" the Lord meant to be "in awe of." According to the internet one of the meanings of "in awe of" is "to respect and revere someone or something, experience a feeling of solemn wonder." What a wonderful way to explain how I felt about God. I am in awe of Him. I would be fearful NOT to have Him in my life! Solemn wonder means serious admiration or astonishment. How fitting is that?

Let us all be in awe of God! Let us all be astonished! When we realize that we are in awe of God that is the beginning of our knowledge!

Are you in awe of God?

Stand in awe of God!
