I remember as a child loving sparklers but being scared to hold it. My dad would light it for me and wait patiently for me to take it from Him. Every July 4th people enjoy sparklers and ooh and aah over them. Today a tiny sparkler still brings back wonderful memories. People are drawn to the warm, beautiful light.
Sparkles aren’t fancy or complicated - they just reflect light. Glitter and sequins reflect sunlight or light from a light bulb. When we sparkle we aren't reflecting sunlight but Sonlight! The Light of Jesus! As a Christian we are to show Jesus to the world, reflecting His Love to the world. John 8:12, Jesus says “I am the light of the world.” Jesus is the light that causes us to sparkle! Matthew 5: 14, "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden."
I have decided my Dad sparkled. He sparkled in the Son. Proverbs 4: 18, "The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day." I remember after my Dad went on a spiritual retreat, The Walk To Emmaus, he oozed God's Light. For a man who never cried, those eyes could well up at anything tender, he was just so grateful!
Zechariah 9: 16, "The LORD their God will save them on that day as the flock of his people. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown." This verse is about God's coming. A crown is the kings glory - the bigger and better it is the more people will notice and praise him. This verse is referring to God's people bringing Him glory. My dad sparkled in the Son!
Ephesians 5: 8, "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light." God wants us to live as children of the Light!
