Are We Being Wise Stewards

Some sin doesn't stand out as obvious as others. Laziness is one of those sins. People who live in a pattern of laziness don't see clearly what they are doing wrong. Proverbs 26: 16, "The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly." Laziness has serious consequences in the workplace and home. In the workplace there is frequent criticism and even termination. In the home there is frustration and children may copy their parents habits. God wants us to work heartily. Colossians 3: 23, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,"
We are also to have a heart to help others and it pleases God to see this characteristic in our lives. The Bible teaches that we must have discernment. Matthew 10: 16, "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." We cannot live an irresponsible lifestyle with no accountability. This is not someone who is unable to work. 2 Thessalonians 3: 10, "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." We do not want to be an enabler.
According to the Bible we are to be good stewards, putting our trust in Him, knowing He promises to supply our needs. Philippians 4: 19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." And what He provides we must use wisely, after giving Him His portion first and paying our bills.
