All That Glitters Is Not Gold

Andy Griffith said wrong things come packaged in glitter. Gold is a dazzling metal, attractive to the eye but in everyday life all may not be as it appears. Something may look good but that does not mean it is - don't be fooled by outward appearances. "Fool’s Gold" is commonly mistaken for real gold because it looks good. Informed buyers cannot be fooled into thinking these "fakes" hold the value of authentic treasures. All that glitters is not gold.

The most important truth for us to learn is who God really is. Scripture tells us to know the difference between the biblical God, and the fool's god. Matthew 24: 24, "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." Satan will always try to steer us away from truth. John 7:24: “Don’t judge by appearances. Judge by what is right”. Another translation says, “Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly”.

We must study God's Word to know the truth. Some writers and scholars strip and rob the passage of God’s intended message. I write the way I interpret. God tells us in 2 Timothy 2: 15, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." The Holy Spirit will help us discern God's truth from deception. You must learn what is gold and what is gold plated!
