After Effects

One of my favorite parts of my job is hearing the stories after an event. Vacation Bible School was a success sharing the Good News of Jesus but the stories that keep coming in remind us why we do what we do in ministry in our churches or on our own.

A mother came to thank someone for the week and continued to say this week had brought spirituality into their family that they had never seen. They are unchurched and she had wanted her kids to know about Jesus but never knew how to teach them. Through VBS, God brought what she had hoped for. The first couple of days her child went home and practiced songs. On Thursday the children were given Bibles. When her young daughter got home she asked the mother to read the Bible out loud to her. This is why we do this! Thanks be to God!

Another volunteer was so excited because a child brought the new Bible to them and asked them to read it. It is very exciting to know that seeds were planted and to see the spark in these tiny disciples! 1 Corinthians 3:6, “ I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” We are to teach the little children, not just at church but at home too!

There are so many stories we know and many we have not heard. There are some kids who come to church and some have never been. Some kids go to every Bible school in town for child care. That is ok because God is big and He can do anything and wastes nothing. We are thankful to have them come! Mark 10:14, Jesus said to them, “let the little children come to Me.”
