Recently I was home alone and just felt some anxiety. I could not put my finger on what was bothering me. One of the blessings from my illness was that I learned to "listen" to my body. I am pretty in tune with it and so I knew immediately that I had to pick myself up. I was not going to let the devil steal my joy! So, I turned on my worship music and sang like no one was listening! It really is amazing how quick that can turn your mood around! I have always heard that evil cannot reside where there is worship!
I was reminded of one Sunday morning when we sang, “God is good all the time…” Immediately I felt better! Not better, I felt great! Where there is worship there is Light and where there is Light there is no darkness! I was reminding myself that God IS good ALL the time. If I sang this song every hour there would be no stress because I would remember Who is in charge. Even if things were tough, I would know I was going to be ok because of Who I belong to. When I am praising God I am reminded of all of my blessings, all of His goodness, all of His love and it overflows me with joy! No matter our circumstances, we have to hold on to what we KNOW and not what we feel! We KNOW God IS GOOD all the time! Romans 8: 28, “"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
As soon as I wake up the negativity starts. But who can change that? I can! Don't turn the news on. Start our day with God. We must look past our circumstances and see God’s goodness. He is still right there - if we don’t feel Him it is because we moved! He will never leave us. Deuteronomy 31: 6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” God never changes. Hebrews 13: 8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
I love what my pastor says, "Our God is greater. Our God is able. Our God is good!" Psalm 34: 8, "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him." Psalm 100: 5, "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." Nahum 1; 7, "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble."
What a great way to start our day by saying Psalm 136: 1, "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever." Everything that is perfect, everything that is holy, everything that is good is from God. God is so ready to forgive us, so eager to answer our prayers and so ready to bless us beyond anything we can imagine. God s good, all the time, and we can find peace in this!
