We had moved and felt we needed to reach out to Don and Josie and check on them. Mike had a devotional book for Don so they came for dinner and there were lots of tears as they shared Don’s journey. He had gotten into the hell’s angels at a young age because of the brotherhood. He felt he would stay in for a while to try to witness to others. He was reading his Bible and spending time with God every day. He was so thirsty for God's Word. Psalm 42: 1-2, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”
On Christmas Eve they were going to church with us but Don was physically sick all day yet he wanted to go. I felt it was Satan so I prayed with Josie over the phone. I told her to remind Don this was Satan trying to stop him. They came to church and the second Don saw the bread and juice for communion he told me he was not worthy. After the sermon and explanation of communion Don went up to the Lord’s table. We were invited to go to the Altar if you felt led. Josie went to the Altar so I knelt beside her. Don was standing there and looked at me and knelt. What an honor to pray with my friends! We were all crying. When we got back to our seats Don and Josie were crying and hugging. I knew God was smiling and I could almost hear the Heavenly chorus singing, hallelujah! Revelation 5:13, “Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!’”
When I first heard of “Don” I told Mike maybe this is why we live here. God could care less about a house, He cares about souls! I believe we were blessed to be a piece of the puzzle of God’s plan. Don and Josie are dear friends. When I asked him about writing this he told me to use it all and to use his name because he is “proud that Jesus is his Lord and Savior”. Amen! Thanks be to God!
