A Grateful Heart

I saw a cute tea towel recently that read, “Cupcakes are just muffins that believed in miracles.” I like that! If I make cupcakes, I never go that extra step to make things pretty but I love when others do! I think my backyard is just a yard that believed in miracles! You may think it is pretty but nothing extraordinary. But when I really look at it, I see miracles. I love the spring when flowers begin to “appear”! Some plants, that I thought were dying, have begun blooming this fall. I watch the beautiful orange, yellow, red, green, gold colors of the trees. I love watching the birds and butterflies enjoy my backyard. Miracles are all around us, we just have to be in tune to them. I challenge you to go outside and begin looking for miracles. You will not have to go far! Mark 9: 23, “‘If you can?’ said Jesus. ‘Everything is possible for one who believes.’”

I read that every miracle in the Bible started with a problem. I have not researched that but I did begin thinking about many of the miracles in the Bible in which that is true. The virgin birth was a miracle that started with the problem - we needed a Savior. Jeremiah 32: 27, “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” Nothing is too hard for God. Nothing we are going through is impossible with God. Luke 18: 27, “Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” When we are facing the impossible, we lean on God, trusting Him. Matthew 19: 26, “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Whatever you have going on, remember, God is the God of glory and grace! He is the God of might and miracles! When God steps in, miracles happen. Let’s praise God and create an atmosphere for miracles! A grateful heart is a magnet for miracles!

We are told in 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18, "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." ALWAYS! This is not a thanksgiving verse! When we give thanks in the midst of difficulty, we please God. We begin to live in a realm of praise and thanksgiving. When we live in this way the enemy no longer can manipulate us. He can not break through a grateful heart!

A grateful heart changes us because it changes our attitude and our focus. It keeps us from the negative focus. A grateful heart brings contentment and peace. We remember who is in charge. We remember who and whose we are. It changes you, your outlook, and your attitude. There is power in a thankful heart. Thanksgiving brings contentment. Philippians 4: 7, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Joyce Meyers said, “Life is not your circumstances, the kind of house you live in, the kind of job you have or how much money you have. You can have the best of these things and still be miserable. On the other hand, it’s amazing how happy and peaceful you can be in the middle of the lousiest circumstances, including the turmoil that’s going on in the world today, if you keep your heart in the right condition.” Proverbs 4: 23, "Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it."

Albert Einstein said, "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."
