A Birthday Blessing!

I believe birthdays are to be celebrated. There were birthday celebrations in the Bible. Matthew 14: 6, "On Herod’s birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for the guests and pleased Herod so much." I believe birthdays are an opportunity to thank God for a life. When we celebrate a birthday we can remember that they were made in the image and likeness of our Father. We can remember how much our heavenly Father loves us. Only God knew when it was time to form Mike in his mother's womb. He filled him with what he needed to fulfill His plan and filled him with gifts to change the world. God knew that on March 4, Mike would make a grand entrance to this world.
Birthdays remind us of our beginnings with God. Births are very exciting but no more exciting than second births. John 3: 3, "Jesus replied, 'Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.'" This is the most important decision we will make in our spiritual life because we are not Christians until we do this. While we are grateful for the past, we can look forward to the future God has planned for us. Remember, God created us to serve a purpose in this world for His kingdom. When we have a birthday it is a reminder that we still have work to do. You know what I am going to say. If you ain't dead, you ain't done. It is also a reminder that you have another chance to fulfill your mission.
Today I celebrate Mike and the person God has created Him to be. I give thanks to God for the process that Mike continues to go through to become that person. I am thankful that I have watched my best friend, lover, husband become not only a godly man but the Spiritual leader of our home. Mike, I am not just wishing for you to have a happy birthday. I am praying that you are blessed with your hearts desires, lots of love and lots of laughter! I love you!
