2021 Christmas Crash

We have spent months preparing for Christmas. We have made (and ate) things that are only made once a year! We have bought and wrapped gifts that have been opened. We have made the big Christmas dinner that is more special than our everyday cooking. Our house guests have left. The anticipation of the big day is a memory. We can now look forward to New Year's!

Some of you are still running on fumes from your Christmas high! Others may be glad that this hectic, emotional, and sparkling season is over. And for some (like me) this can be a "let down" time. Maybe it is because all the excitement is gone. Maybe it is because the anticipation and presents are gone from under the tree. Maybe it is because your house is suddenly quiet. (That may be a plus!} There are probably some people feeling guilty from over indulgence! Whether is is financial or the month long shame feast! Some are already making their New Year's resolutions!

We have months of buildup to Christmas so no wonder when it finally comes and goes, for many people, a post-Christmas slump sets in. It is very normal to have a psychological letdown when a big event is over.

Let's try to keep the Christmas spirit by continuing to smile at people and wish them a happy day. Just because Christmas is over we do not have to stop greeting strangers. That is one thing I love about Christmas. There is something to celebrate every day.

God made us lots of promises to those who believe in Him. Matthew 28: 20, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Hebrews 13: 5, ".. Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” This includes the day after Christmas. This includes when you are experiencing depression or loneliness.

Jesus wants us to have peace because He talks about it a lot. John 16: 33, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 14: 27, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

We can ask Him for peace today and He will give it to us. Let's enjoy His love, hope and joy!

Be encouraged, no matter where you are, no matter how you feel, Jesus cares for you deeply.  His presence can fill your heart and lift your spirits.  Never forget He promised, "I am with you always, even unto the end of the age"

Life really is a miracle. I am going to return to the life He has given me and thank Him for always being with me. And now, on with life as usual!
